Last night, two additional clubs played their first games of the regular season on Canadian territory. The Edmonton Oilers hosted the Vancouver Canucks in a fiercely contested game between two Canadian rivals.
On Wednesday, many things happened, including Connor McDavid scoring his 700th career point and getting his 701st point with a hat trick goal late in the third period.
Another Oilers player is receiving media attention, but not for the reasons that should be. Darnell Nurse, a defenseman for the Edmonton Oilers, was the one who tried to hurt a Vancouver Canucks player last night.
As you can see below, a Canucks player was in a very vulnerable position, as he was already being hit by another Oilers player and he was about to take a fall.

That did not stop Darnell Nurse, who seemed well aware of the players position, Nurse still decided to throw a hit making contact with the player who was in a vulnerable way.
Nurse was fined $5,000 for this action, is this fair?
