In this day and age of technology and the ability to find out from players how their careers could have changed with a simple decision, it is fascinating. Time and time again, NHL fans hear about failed draft moves, where a team would like to trade up to acquire a certain player, but it doesn't happen.

This was the case for Arizona Coyotes' center, Logan Cooley, who revealed on the "Spittin' Chiclets" podcast with Paul Bissonnette and Ryan Whitney, about a failed attempt by the Flyers to move up in the draft to acquire Cooley instead of Cutter Gauthier.
Cooley explained that he had discussions with the Coyotes for several days. At the last moment, mere minutes before the beginning of the draft, he learned that the Flyers were looking to move up and snatch Cooley at 3rd overall.

The Flyers, however, decided to stay at 5th overall and drafted Gauthier. That decision certainly would have changed things for the Flyers.
Many have felt for a while that a number one center is what the Flyers have desperately needed. With a plethora of wingers, especially scoring wingers, they need a centerman who can help them distribute the puck and score many goals.
All the Flyers can do now is look forward, as they have Gauthier and Michkov as their prized first-round picks.
