Nicolas Deslauriers and A.J. Greer engaged in a physical altercation during a game between the Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins. The fight broke out after Deslauriers delivered a hit on Greer, which the latter did not take kindly to.
What started as a standard hockey fight quickly escalated when Deslauriers refused to stop throwing punches, even after the referees attempted to break it up.
The incident resulted in both players receiving a five-minute major penalty for fighting.
This type of physicality is not uncommon in the NHL, as players often use fighting as a way to defend their teammates or change the momentum of the game. Just over a minute after the fight the Flyers would score cutting the lead down to a one goal game again.
Ultimately the Flyers would still lose, and the Bruins would pick up there 63rd win of the season setting a new NHL record for most wins in a single season.
