This week, Philadelphia Flyers signed Noah Cates on a two-year, entry level contract. Yesterday, the newbie made his NHL debut and impressed his teammates and coach even though they lost the game.

For his first appearance in an orange & black jersey, Cates finished the game with three shots, three high danger scoring chances and helped the team in generating a 52.76 percent of the expected goals at even strength while he was playing. A solid debut for Philly's new number #49.
Mike Yeo said that he made a really good debut, «Especially for Noah playing in his first game... for a first game, it's a game that builds trust from coaches and teammates». There is a good energy around Noah Cates and he's hoping to share it in the locker-room.

It was overall a special night for the newbie, being cheered by his former teammates in his home state on the night of his NHL debut. He said that he learned a lot during his time at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, especially the winning culture. He's now looking to help build one in Philadelphia.
Let's hope he does.
