The Flyers announced that they would sign long-time NHL centerman Artem Anisimov to a professional tryout this off-season, after reports that Sean Couturier may miss the entire year- it seemed as if Anisimov, and his big bodied build would be a decent fit into the Flyers lineup.

Sadly for Anisimov he injured his foot before the season could even start, which sidelined him for a few weeks.
Anisimov recovered and joined the Leigh Valley Phantoms on a conditioning stint to get back into the groove with things, and he has done amazing with 3 goals and 1 assist throughout his first 6 games in the AHL.
Things quickly changed this morning when the Leigh Valley Phantoms announced that Anisimov would be signing a one-year deal with the Phantoms to keep him down in the AHL for the remainder of the season.
That is amazing news for the Phantoms, but you also have to question- the Flyers signed him in hopes for a spot on the NHL roster, why did the Phantoms sign him?
