Goaltending is always a premium for any team in the NHL these days. It seems that most teams decide to go with a tandem style setup rather than have one goaltender steal everything and be a 50 to 60-game player.

This position has always been a sore spot for the Flyers as they have had numerous goaltenders go through the system and either be traded or not pan out the way they hoped.
Currently, the team has Carter Hart, their best option and by far one of the best goalies they've had in many years but it begs the question would the Flyers be open to trying to snag another goaltender to help solidify the goalie position?
It appears that the Pittsburgh Penguins have Tristan Jarry available as an unrestricted free agent this year.

The 28-year-old from Surrey BC, played 47 games with the Penguins and had 24 wins with 13 losses and seven overtime losses. He had a 2.90 GAA and a .909 SV percentage with two shutouts.
The cap hit on his contract was $3.5 million with a total value of $10.5 million, according to capfriendly.com. As the Flyers continue to rebuild, they can look at this option in two ways: as a 1-2 punch and a tandem that could be pretty dominant in the future.
The other option is he could be an insurance policy as Carter Hart has a contract himself that's coming up for renewal and there have been rumours throughout the organization that he may not want to stay for a rebuild.
It's certainly something to keep your eye on as the unrestricted free agency season approaches.
