As the Flyers enter their second season under Head Coach John Tortorella and their first full season with Danny Briere as the General Manager, the expectations for this team are in the rebuilding phase, and the assessment of the talent on the Flyers roster continues.

The Flyers played two games against the Rangers over the weekend in Allentown, PA, which is the home of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the affiliate of the Flyers.
Both the Rangers and the Flyers fielded their rookies against each other, and after both games were completed, Phantoms Head Coach Ian Laperriere felt that several players, including Bobby Brink, Elliot Desnoyers, and Tyson Foerster, could have elevated their performance.
"For me, it was just okay," Laperriere said about Brink. "It's human nature, maybe; it's Rookie Camp, and they're getting ready for the main camp, just like Desi and Tyson. It's the reality. I don't want to be too harsh, but everybody needs to raise their level a little bit. The scoresheet is one thing, but you want them to create something. I didn't see that in the first two preseason games. It's a big camp for all of them. All the guys who played for us last year, it's a huge camp for them."

"Hopefully, they can reflect tomorrow and be better when the main camp starts [on Thursday). We still have a couple more days of rookie camp, and hopefully, they will get going. It's a wakeup call for some of them. At the end of the day, if they want to make the big team, they have to do a bit more. Hopefully, they will learn from those two games and improve."

The expectation is that Foerster will make the Flyers' roster after training camp, but after a report like this, it's highly likely that Head Coach John Tortorella will be more focused on him as he needs to elevate his game. Foerster weighed in on his head coach's assessment and felt he had a different perspective.
"I don't think it was for lack of trying. I think I had some pretty good chances. I have to hit the net for sure... I just didn't get enough shots."
