I think it's safe to say that the Philadelphia Flyers won't make the playoffs again this season. Infact, it's quite likely the Flyers may also miss the playoffs again next season.
However, the Flyers struggles are also part of their own doing. According to Flyers Legend Bobby Clarke, former Flyers General Manager Ron Hextall could be a lot to blame for the Flyers situation.
Before he was fired and replaced by Chuck Fletcher back in the 2017 NHL draft Clarke and all of the Flyers Scouts wanted Hextall to draft defenceman Cale Makar with the 2nd overall pick, Hextall unfortunately was the General Manager and had the last say, and wanted Nolan Patrick.

The Flyers drafted Patrick who's no longer with the team and career is likely over already while Cale Makar is arguably the best player in the NHL today and helped the Colorado Avalanche to their first Stanley Cup since 2001.
That's definitely a tough pill to swallow but I bet Flyers fans wish they could go back in time and talk Hextall into drafting Makar, the Flyers would almost certainly be in better shape then they are currently.
