REPORT: The Philadelphia Flyers make an odd roster decision, Proves Chuck Fletcher is Ruining The Organization
Throughout this period of the trade deadline, one new trend has been seen quite often. Teams are protecting their trade assets by holding them out of games and calling them «for trade purposes».
This is relatively new for the NHL and one would expect the Philadelphia Flyers to do the same for their players that they feel are worth moving.
Not the case, during tonight's game against the Rangers it's reported that general manager Chuck Fletcher had no reason to hold out Flyers forward James van Riemsdyk as he wanted to ice the best team forward for head coach John Tortorella.

With the trade deadline less than 48 hours away, one would think the Flyers would want to protect that asset and prevent injury so that they can move him or whoever else without any worry.
Safe to say, it's uncertain times in Philadelphia and Flyers nation will need to see what general manager Fletcher has in store. It's believed that JVR and Justin Braun will be moved by the deadline and possibly more people as they begin their multi-year rebuilding process.
