During last year's offseason, it was clear the Flyers were preparing to trade Carter Hart as the team felt they could get a decent return for his services. The team was in rebuild teardown mode and after a few weeks, the news died down and the trade rumors went silent as now it's been revealed why his move did not happen.

There was plenty of movement and discussions to what would happen during this investigation that has now five players from the 2018 Team Canada team charged with sexual assault. Their agents were able to keep their careers going during start of this season as they threatened the teams with lawsuits.
Now that the process has begun, it remains to be seen what will happen next as this complicated matter will begin to unveil itself over the coming weeks and months.
With Hart now in a leave of absence for the foreseeable future, the Flyers will have his $3.979 million cap hit count against their salary cap for the remaining of the year even though he will no longer be playing.
He is in his final year of his three-year $11.9 million contract.
