Ron Hextall and The Penguins Left in a Crucial Position
The Pittsburgh Penguins are off to a 3-0-1 start to begin the year, while sitting at the top of the Metropolitan Division.
The start is solid, but they now have a very difficult decision lying ahead of them.
Due to the team having less than $90,000 in salary availability and some recent injuries, they do not have room to make a call-up and add another salary to their team.
The only way they could make a call-up is if a player went on Long-Term Injured Reserve, which then that player wouldn't count against the cap.

Because of this, it looks like the Penguins will need to play a defenseman at forward until another forward is able to return.
I don't think this would impact the Penguins too much, but it will definitely have a small impact at the least as the team looks to build off their 3-0-1 start.
