There's been plenty of talk where veteran forward Sam Gagner would call home this season, would he end up in New York, would he return to a Canadian team, Gagner has admitted previously he would like to play in Canada again and there were rumors of him going to Toronto.
Gagner is a native of London Ontario, and was a star during his junior hockey career with the London Knights before being drafted 6th overall by the Edmonton Oilers back in 2007. So going to Toronto would of been a ideal place for Gagner.
However, we now learned yes Gagner is playing in Canada this season, but instead of Toronto it was Winnipeg who acquired Gagners services. As the Winnipeg Jets General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff announced Today the Jets signed Gagner to a one-year deal worth $750,000 that's a steal for Gagner.
Gagner is 33 now and has played in 967 NHL games, scoring 184 goals, and 321 assists for a total of 505 points. Gagner never became the big star he was projected to be but has had a very good NHL career none the less.
