With reports emerging that the San Jose Sharks were looking to trade away defenseman Erik Karlsson, it's safe to assume that a rebuild is on the horizon and that the Sharks, like many other teams have their eyes on the 2023 Draft.
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Sharks arent too satisfied with the Brent Burns, Karlsson experiment.
Friedman says that there were some initial preliminary discussions during the season involving an Erik Karlsson deal with and a couple of teams, but didn't lead anywhere.

The San Jose ownership however has said that they wish to remain playoff and cup contenders. But if an interestind deal were to be offered for Burns or Karlsson, they will listen.
Some people are looking at Buffalo as potential trade partners as they are actively seeking a top right handed mentor for Owen Power. They have a lot of picks and prospects to negotiate with.
This leads me to wonder if Buffalo would also be interested in taking either Ristolainen or Ellis.
