With injuries piling up on the Toronto Maple Leafs' defense core, many voices are calling on Kyle Dubas to make a major splash to bolster the team. Jakob Chychrun from the Arizona Coyotes is one such player whose name continues to surface in Maple Leafs trade rumors.
Chychrun, 24, stands at 6'2" and weighs 220 pounds. The left shooting defenseman has expressed his desire to be traded to a contender. For this young defenseman, Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong has certainly created a hefty price tag, and only a very few teams would be willing to part with a portion of their future.
It was reported on Tim and Friends from hockey insider Nick Kypreos that Chychrun is very interested in playing for the Maple Leafs. His biggest reason is to play with Auston Matthews
The Maple Leafs did attempt to address their defensive woes by acquiring Conor Timmins from the Coyotes for forward prospect Curtis Douglas.
Would the Maple Leafs be willing to part with more of their future in the likes of Matthew Knies, Topi Niemela or Nick Roberston along with few draft picks that remain?
