Junior hockey in London, Ontario was rocked by an alarming incident when the owner of a junior team, Paul Duarte, received a two-year suspension from the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) after an investigation uncovered multiple issues.

The OHF emphasized the need for owners to uphold integrity and ensure a safe and inclusive game. Duarte had allegedly offered a $100 bounty for injuring a player from another team, a behavior that goes against the principles of the sport.
Sources told The London Free Press a bounty was allegedly offered for a London player to target a skater on the Komoka Kings in the fall of 2021... The amount of the bounty was $100.
Many find the two-year suspension insufficient for such a disgraceful act, calling for a more severe penalty to deter such behavior in the future.
