In a new article by Scott Wheeler of The Athletic, the top under-23 prospects in the NHL were ranked 1-50. The Flyers had just two players make the list.

The list began by having Buffalo Sabres prospect Owen Power claim the top spot. He was then followed by Luke Hughes and Shane Wright.
According to Wheeler, the Flyers' only two prominent guys under 23 years old are Cutter Gauthier at rank 35 and Bobby Brink at rank 45.

Wheeler calls Gauthier's appeal obvious and likes the way he drives play. In true Flyers fashion, Gauthier loves to take the body and always finishes his checks. His shot is NHL ready but needs some help on the creative side of the game. Wheeler sees him more as a winger than a play driving center.
"I fully expect Gauthier to be an impactful NHL player and scorer. I'm just not convinced he's going to produce enough to live up to just how high he was selected."

Bobby Brink on the other hand also received praise but was notably snubbed due to his size. At 5'8, Wheeler believes that in his prime, Brink could be an easy top-9 or top-6 forward given the right linemates.
"Brink's game is primarily about anticipation and playing a step ahead of the play, though, which also helps him support the puck defensively and win races."

Wheeler likes the skating, he likes the hand and also loves the NHL release. He has a high hockey IQ and Wheeler sees him as a power play monster when he eventually makes the league.
