The Flyers' financial situation may force them to buyout or trade Oskar Lindblom.

In a flat cap world, even having an extra $100,000 does a lot for you. This season, the Flyers, like many other teams have been juggling the cap along with team finances.
"Buying him out would actually save you $333,000 on the cap this year. And next year it would only count $666,000 against the cap."

Alain Vigneault is still on the books and so is Mike Yeo. The empty scenes at Wells Fargo Arena coupled with the horrid season just add more financial strain to the organization. The team's best jersey seller (Giroux) is now gone too.

"Oskar Lindblom remains beloved in the Flyers locker room & in the org. But after a 2nd straight season of him failing to recapture his pre-diagnosis form, questions about his future are inevitable."

Since his cancer diagnosis, his play has just not been the same level as it used to. During the 2019-20 season, Lindblom scored 11 goals and made 7 assists in just 30 games. His return in the playoffs also boosted the team past the Habs in game 6 of that year's bubble playoffs.
"He's a fourth line player making 4 million dollars... I don't think you can afford to pay him that much."
But considering all the things he had gone through in the last 2 years, would it be a distasteful move by the management to explore this option? We could always attempt to trade him but who is in the market for a guy like that? Would we have to send a pick along with him to get the deal done?
Financially it makes sense but there is always a human side in sports. He makes 3 million until the end of next season and had 26 points in 79 games this year.
