What a tragic news.
The Ottawa Senators have announced the passing of their owner Eugene Melnyk at age 62. Melnyk has been the owner of the Senators since 2003. Under his ownership, the Senators went to the Stanley Cup Final in 2007 (which they lost in 5 games against the Anaheim Ducks) and the Eastern Conference Final in 2017.
"It is with great sadness that the family of Eugene Melnyk and the Ottawa Senators hockey organization announce his passing on March 28, 2022 after an illness he faced with determination and courage."
