As American Thanksgiving has come and gone, the Flyers currently find themselves in an unexpected position. The team is currently one point behind the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, and as of late, they have been playing rather well, especially on the defensive side.

After securing five consecutive wins, the team faced a setback, losing to the New York Islanders 3-2. Such results have created uncertainty for Danny Briere and his management team, raising the question of whether the Flyers are undergoing a true rebuild or opting for a retooling of the team.
If the Flyers are indeed in a full rebuild, the team would need to continue dismantling the roster and acquiring as many draft picks and prospects as possible to improve their chances of securing a lottery pick.

This would involve trading players who are household names among Flyers fans, including Travis Konecny, Scott Laughton, Cam Atkinson, and, notably, Carter Hart.
Hart, in particular, has garnered significant interest over the past few months, especially from the beleaguered franchise, the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers were considered favourites for the Stanley Cup last year but fell short in the second round against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Much criticism arose from their fan base and some NHL pundits, suggesting that their defence core, along with their goaltending, wasn't not strong enough for the current season.
It seems their predictions were accurate, as the Oilers find themselves in one of the worst slumps in their history. Their primary issue lies in goaltending, and the fact that Carter Hart hails from Alberta has intensified rumours of his potential move to the Oilers.

Carter Hart's asking price revealed

According to The Hockey News, it would reportedly take a first-round pick, and a second-round pick, along with one or two top prospects and Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner as a possible trade option for Hart.
It's anticipated that if the Flyers were contemplating moving Hart, the involved team would need to pay a hefty price, given that this goaltender could potentially address the bulk of their issues.
The coming weeks will be fascinating for both the Flyers and the Oilers, and it remains to be seen whether the two teams can come to an agreement and facilitate a trade. For now, the Flyers will aim to build on their recent success with Hart guarding the net.
