The Wild is (maybe) a better trade partner than the Avalanche for the Flyers

It'll be up to Chuck Fletcher to meet his demands, but the Flyers GM have to do the best he can for the organisation. It means that he has to accept the best offer for his captain. Even though if this offer is not coming from Colorado...
On that, I don't think that the Avalanche is the best trade partner for the Flyers.
First, they don't have a lot of cap space available ($1.8M) - and when you want to acquire a player who is making $8.2M a year, let's say that it's a bit of a problem. Also, they already traded their 1st and 2nd round draft picks for this year draft.

Their prospect pool is pretty good, but don't count on them to trade away
Alex Newhook in a Claude Giroux trade. Yes, Barron is a right-handed defensemen, which is a need for the Flyers, but you will have to add a lot more than that.
Maybe the first rounder of 2023 (which is view as a strong draft), Barron, Ranta and Jost ? That's a pretty good offer, but the Minnesota Wild have more to offer, in my opinion.
The first good news is that they will have $11.2M of free cap space at the deadline. They have all their draft picks for this year. And overall, the prospect that they can offer to the Flyers are better. You can think of Calen Addison, who is a great right handed puck moving defensmen. He scored 17 points in 23 games this season with the Iowa Wild in the AHL. Addison is soon to be ready for NHL action, as he played 9 games this season with Minnesota.
And if the Flyers add a player like Justin Braun in the equation, they could maybe take a chance on Marco Rossi... At the end of the day, the Wild seems to have more options to make a deal with the Flyers involving Claude Giroux. They will have a bit of a tough time to have a better team next year than this year, so Bill Guerin could be tempted to make a big splash on March 21st.
