Scott Laughton has been placed on injured reserve, which will keep him out of action for the foreseeable future for the Philadelphia Flyers. Laughton has an upper-body injury, and NHL.com's Adam Kimelman predicts that he will be out for a while.

The Flyershave calledup Jackson Cates from the AHL when they announced Laughton will be out for enough time.
Through his first 18 games, Laughtonwas averaging more than 19 minutes per game, the most ice time of his career as the Flyers were already hurting down the middle with the Couturier news. Along with his usual style of physical hockey, this led to seven points for the year.
With head coach John Tortorella noting that he trusted Noah Cates better defensively in the middle of the ice, the team recently shifted him to the wing, a move that was also made with Kevin Hayes last night heading to left wing in the Flyers lineup.
The Flyers have struggled at that position this year since they don't have a single centre who faces off above 48% and few players who are performing to their full ability. With 19 points combined, Hayes and Konecny are the team's top scorers, but aside from them and Owen Tippett, no other player has even five goals for the year, the Flyers need to bring in some offence.. Chuck Fletcher, that's on you!
