As you probably know, Nazem Kadri was the victim of a vicious hit from behind by Oilers' forward Evander Kane. After the game, reporters asked Jay Woodcroft, the Oilers head coach, what he thought about the hit.
However, he didn't want to acknowledge that the hit was dirty or at least wrong. The only thing he said is that they successfully killed the major penalty that was assessed to Kane.
This says a lot about the hockey culture, and it has to change. Of course, you don't want to throw your player under the bus, but there's multiple ways to say that your player made a mistake without putting him in an awkward position...
