Yesterday, Chuck Fletcher made his first big move of the offseason by acquiring the services of defenseman Tony DeAngelo. With the health status of Ryan ellis, the Flyers needed to trade for a right-handed blue liner, and Fletcher acquired, maybe, the best option available on the market.

He isn't great in his own zone, but DeAngelo will definitely improve the Flyers' powerplay. With that being said, Fletcher will have to make some trades/ sign players in order for his team to be competitive next year.
The team has been linked to Johnny Gaudreau for quite some time now, but the only problem is that, for the moment, the team doesn't have the cap space needed to sign the star winger.
So, what is the option? Trade James Van Riemsdyk. According to insider Anthony Di Marco, the cost to "unload" James Van Riemsdyk contract is ridiculous. He can't say for certain what the Flyers will have to give up, but he speculated that Chuck Fletcher would have to give the Florida Panthers 1st round pick acquired in the Claude Giroux trade.
