When NHL teams go through rebuilding years, it's a great way for management and the coaching staff to assess the depth of their teams and see which players would work out and which would not.

A rebuilding year also gives a player ample time to make an impression and work towards becoming an effective NHL player.
Morgan Frost, who has been with the Flyers organization for five seasons, has had ample opportunity to become that player and to take the reins as the number two or #3 centerman.
However, that has not happened, and with the competition becoming stiffer with the return of Sean Couturier and other players within the organization's depths making a push to become NHL regulars, it will push players like Frost to be less complacent.

Head coach John Tortorella decided to put Frost in the press box for the bulk of this early part of the season. With no points through six games and no indications of wanting to change or improve, it seems less likely that Frost will be on the roster and may be looking at a change of scenery shortly.
He was drafted in the first round, 27th overall in 2017. Last season, he scored nineteen goals for 46 points. After a quiet negotiation, Frost landed a two-year contract extension worth 4.2 million dollars, which has a cap hit of 2.1 million. If Frost goes on the trade market, his cap hit is certainly tradeable.
