The roster this season does not have a flashy name or a top tier player on it. That does not mean a breakout isn't necessary or even a must to stay within the team. That is exactly the case for these two players. One being a breakout year is probably the way they stay on the team and the other being a breakout season is something that will show the management "Hey we might have something here". Here are those two players in my eyes.
It's the story of false hope so far with Flyers forward Travis Konecny. In his early years with the Flyers, you saw a 20+ goal scorer, 61 points in 66 games in 2019 and then a huge drop off in the playoffs- 7 points in 14 games (0g,7A).
A player with huge upside to score goals and produce points totally evaporate and it's been a huge concern. When will Travis Konecny show up? I know deep down there is a good player who can score 20 or more goals and become a leader on this roster. A breakout year is due for him, or he may be finding himself on the trading block, which I have said for a few seasons now.
This will be his first full season with the big club, and I couldn't be more excited for what the future holds for this young defenseman. Cam York. York had the opportunity to play 30 games with the Flyers last season having 10 points. A full season with the Flyers this season, Cam could be on pace for double digit goals and his playmaking ability will only improve. A star in the making and a #1 defenseman to be come.
