Recently its been revealed to what extent NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and the NHL associates are willing to go in order to keep the Coyotes in the Desert.

As everybody knows, the Arizona Coyotes will be playing in a college stadium with the maximum capacity of just over 5000 people come next season. Not only is this a bad look for the team but an awful look for the NHL.
There are attendances for OHL, WHL and QMJHL games larger than that.
That said, the league has reportedly promised the Coyotes an NHL Draft and All-Star game for the city should their new deal with the city of Tempe be finalized.

"If the Coyotes are able to eventually get the deal done to build a new arena in Tempe, I was just told the league will also guarantee an NHL Draft AND All-Star game for the city."
The Coyotes have recently proposed the development of a new arena and sports and commercial project to the city of Tempe.
"The Coyotes have proposed a $1.7-billion development that includes a hockey arena, hotels, apartments, retail stores and a sports book."

The team also claims that the project can generate over $154 million dollars in new taxes for the city over a 30-year period, as well as the inclusion of new 6,900 permanent jobs.
"The Coyotes would need to remove an estimated 1.5 million tons of trash from the site, which is currently a city dump. The team would then need to remediate the site before construction begins at a cost of approximately $70 million."

From the official Coyotes site, they are currently marketing the project as "From Landfill to Landmark"
Many people are for and against the projects. Some residents for example do not like the idea of their neighborhood being commercialized while the airport nearby claims that they could lose up to $264 million during the project's construction.
For now though, the Coyotes will play all of their home games at ASU's arena for the next three seasons. The team will spend over $20 million for new facilities and upgrades to the arena to meet NHL standards. When the Yotes eventually leave, ASU gets to keep all the upgrades free of charge.
Will the Coyotes be able to pull this off? The away games in Arizona will look way different thats for sure.
