According to many Flyers insiders, the Philadelphia will interview Barry Trotz for the head coaching job today May 19, 2022.

Trotz, most recently with the New York Islanders was surprisingly relieved of his head coaching duties after the team failed to make the Stanley Cup playoffs this year round.
The Winnipeg native has many teams in the running for his services. He most recently did an interview with his hometown Winnipeg Jets, while fielding enquiries from the Vegas Golden Knights and Flyers.
Trotz has publicly stated that he would like to take some time before making a his decision. Some have speculated that he may be more keen on a management job rather than behind the bench.

In his podcast 32 thoughts, insider Elliotte Friedman has said that there is immense pressure on GM Fletcher for the Flyers to get better and to do so quickly. A rebuild or retool resembling that of the New York Rangers is a good precedent to look for.
However, it's incredibly important to look at hockey in the long run. We want to be competitive next year yes, but don't we want to be competitive for years to come? Now there's a chance for Metropolitan teams to seize the moment. Boston is getting older, Pittsburgh has not had much success recently too.
If Trotz were to come to Philly, he would most definitely need to be presented a vision and a lineup he believes in. Remember we are the beggars not him.
I am personally of the belief that being bad again next year is the way to go. Bedard, Michkov, Fantili etc are all elite generational stars. Would Trotz be ok with such a plan?
After all, he is currently stands third place in all-time wins by a head coach, behind only Joel Quenneville and the legendary Scotty Bowman.
Who would you like to see behind the bench next season??
