The Philadelphia are in a very rough situation right now. After having a disastrous season finishing dead last in the Metropolitan Division with a 25-46-11 record, Hockey Insiders expect the Flyers to have another long and painful season.
The Flyers General Manager Chuck Fletcher also wasn't able to make really any changes with the Flyers currently being $1,598,107 over the salary cap heading into next season.
After trading away captain
Claude Giroux at the trade deadline last season, Fletcher is expected to continue trading away veteran players for younger prospects and or draft picks as the Flyers look to rebuild back to the team Flyers use to be.
Flyers fans are still not happy with Fletcher after they had the opportunity to sign the best available free agent this summer super star
Johnny Gaudreau. Gaudreau left the Calgary Flames and wanted to sign with the Flyers, but Fletcher couldn't make it happen and Gaudreau would end up signing with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

As for possible trades here are the top three players that are believed to be traded some time this season out of Philadelphia.
Defenseman Travis Sanheim is entering the final year of his contract before becoming a UFA. He remained with the Flyers through last year's deadline as he was their best defenceman last season. Fletcher is hoping to get a good return in exchange for Sanheim most likely at the trade deadline.
Travis Konecny despite being possibly the best player on the Flyers team in terms of skill, Konecny has been heavily criticized for being inconsistent.
He's got the all the tools to be a elite NHL player but the lack of interest in him sometimes just makes Konecny a underachiever in Philadelphia.
Konecny also has three years remaining on his contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $5.5 million, which is a lot of money for someone whose production has regressed since 2019-20 season. Maybe a change of scenery would help rejuvenate his career.
Provorov, like Konecny, has a big salary at $6.75 million dollars annually until the end of the 2024-25 season. Provorov also has under achieved since getting his new deal. Many teams have shown interest in the big Russian defender but Fletcher might have to retain salary in this case to sweeten the deal.
