Torts Reveals Why Allison Was Sent Packing

The Flyers are about to embark on another season, firmly entrenched in a rebuilding phase. This is a new experience for both the team and its fan base, as they have never taken this path to such an extent. Players who were part of the team last year, and who thought they had secured their spots this year, will need to reconsider their positions.
One player, in particular, is Wade Allison. Allison believed he had a strong chance of retaining his position with the Flyers. However, it appears that head coach John Tortorella has different plans, as he decided to release him from the roster, and the Flyers have subsequently placed him on waivers.
When Tortorella was asked why he made this decision, he provided a simple answer:
Torts on Allison: "[Other] players played better. Young players."

Players can no longer take their jobs for granted, especially with the emergence of new young talents from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Players will be competing fiercely for their positions as they strive for a long-term role in the NHL.
Allison will need to clear waivers to join The Phantoms, and if he doesn't, the Flyers will lose him without any compensation. Based on this decision, it seems that they are not too heartbroken about it.
