The Philadelphia Flyers' GM, Danny Briere, has been tasked with rebuilding the team and has been open about his intentions.
He has been collaborating with John Tortorella to determine the new direction and players for the Flyers. As a result, two veteran players are now available for trade and may be moved during the offseason.
It has been widely discussed that Kevin Hayes and Ivan Provorov are potential trade options for the organization. The Flyers initially believed that Provorov had the potential to be a first-pairing defenseman, but they have since become dissatisfied with his performance and cost. Provorov, on the other hand, is unhappy with his current situation.
During the previous season, multiple teams expressed interest in Hayes, including the Columbus Blue Jackets who have recently reignited their interest. Although Hayes' contract may be difficult to trade, the Flyers are willing to retain a portion of it to alleviate some of the $6.75 million AAV burden.
It is uncertain if either player will be traded, but Briere and Tortorella are likely considering them as potential odd-men-out on the team.
