In the midst of a spectacular 2019 season for the Philadelphia Flyers, many if not every Flyers fan thought they had found their goalie of the future as Carter Hart put in a spectacular 2019-20 season and playoff run in the Covid-19 bubble in Toronto.

During the 2019-20 season, Hart had an impressive record of 24-13 with a 2.44 GAA and a 91% save percentage as the Flyers skated to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs before falling to the New York Islanders.
Since that season, Hart has still been solid behind the goal but illness, injuries and a struggling roster has seen Hart's numbers fluctuate. Hart still had a solid 2022-23 season as he reached 22 wins and a 90% save percentage which was a great sign after a down year in 2021.
This season has been great for Hart thus far as he sits with nine wins with a 91% save percentage and a 2.42GAA and even was recognized among the goalies of the month in early December. The only downside to Hart this season, has been his struggle off the ice as he was battling undisclosed illnesses.

Hart missed the last 10 days and is currently listed as day-to-day but is feeling much better and is relieved to have answers and a plan after dealing with this illness for quite some time.
"Just kind of something that has been going on for a little while. Just kind of comes on and off periodically. Finally got to the bottom of it and taking care of it, addressing and fixing the issue."

While Hart has been out, 24-year-old Samuel Ersson has stepped up and answered the bell, turning in spectacular performances behind the net. Most recently, Ersson was recognized among NHL's Goalies of the Week on Monday after winning three of his last four starts which included a shutout win against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night.
In his last ten starts, Ersson is 8-1-1 with a 1.85 GAA and 93% save percentage and is gaining confidence with each victory.
«It's fun. The confidence is growing in our roomIt's important for us as a group to stay in the moment and take it game-by-game.»

With Hart sounding like he is close to making a comeback one thing is for certain, the Flyers are one of the strongest teams in front of the net.
