It seemed that something was going to happen during the first period of the Flyers wild game tonight as two heavyweights were on the ice at the same time. Flyers forward Nick Deslauriers was his job and checking Wild forward Pat Maroon.

As both men have a rich history of fighting one another, it seemed to be a forgone conclusion both men would drop the gloves and give the crowd a heavyweight match up.
The fight seemed dull at first as both men sized each other up in several swings didn't connect. Both are known to throw several bombs against their opponents and end their fights quickly. This one however went on for a little bit of time until Deslauriers gained the upper hand and sent maroon to a crumbling heap.
This season, Deslauriers has been more active on the roster as he is played 39 games. Having only three assists but 41 penalty minutes it's clear that head coach John Tortorella uses him sparingly and when he needs to fire things up.
The Flyers will fly to Winnipeg to play the back half of a back-to-back against The Jets. Game time will be 7:00 PM eastern.
