Forward Shane Doan played 21 seasons in the NHL. He started out with the Winnipeg Jets in 1995 and the next year the Jets relocated down to the Phoenix area.

Doan, or 'Captain Coyote' as he became to be known played in 1,540 NHL games, with 402 goals, 570 assists good for 972 points. His #19 was raised to the rafters and he is a legend in Coyotes' hockey.
In 2017 Doan retired as an active player. He started working with the NHL hockey operations office for about three years.
'Doaner' started working in the Coyotes' front office in January of 2021 as its chief hockey development officer.

in September of this year he decided to step back from his role with the Coyotes.
He stated he wanted to spend more time with his four children. His son, Josh Doan plays for Arizona State University and was drafted 37th in the NHL draft this year.
So, being as competitive as he is, Doan decided to try something new. Polo. Yes, that's not a mis-type. It seems a natural transition seeing as how he grew up in Halkirk, Alberta and knows his way around horses.
His wife Andrea is also a horse enthusiast and they have horses on their property in Scottsdale, AZ. There were once trade rumors involving Doan and his wife wasn't fond of relocating from Arizona where she has her horses and has seen her four children grow up.
The Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships will take place on November 5th, and it may seem strange when you see Shane Doan on a horse playing polo. He explained his interest in trying this new sport in this video.
