Over the past six months, Flyers forward Scott Laughton has been in the news for various reasons. After enduring a dreadful season with the Flyers, Laughton managed to turn his fortunes around when he joined the Canadian national team for the World Championship, where he was awarded a gold medal.

Presumably, this lifted his spirits and brought a smile to his face. However, as summer draws to a close and numerous NHL stars return to the gym to prepare for the upcoming training camp in September, the rumour mill has once again begun churning with his name as a potential candidate to be moved this year.
Over the past couple of seasons, his leadership skills and veteran presence have anchored the Flyers, providing younger players with opportunities to seek guidance and learn the nuances of playing Flyers hockey.

During the previous season, he participated in 78 games, scoring eighteen goals, contributing 25 assists for a total of 43 points, and finishing with a -9 rating. He also accumulated fifty penalty minutes.
Given his attributes, it's expected that numerous teams have contacted the Flyers and conversed with General Manager Danny Briere to inquire about Laughton's availability and potential cost. According to reports, two teams that could be an ideal fit for the forward are the Minnesota Wild and the Calgary Flames.
The Wild make a compelling case for his services, as they currently possess only two serviceable centermen in Joel Eriksson Ek and Ryan Hartman. These two players are expected to provide offensive contributions to their respective lines. The Wild are hopeful that Hartman can rebound from a lacklustre previous year, and that someone like Laughton could bring stability, particularly to their bottom two lines.
On the other hand, the Flames are in a state of flux due to a recent mass exodus of players, along with reports of several players not intending to re-sign with the team for the long term. Consequently, new players are needed to fill the void. Laughton's leadership could undoubtedly bolster the Flames and potentially attract other players to join the team.
As of now, Laughton remains a Flyer and is poised to collaborate with his team in pursuit of improvement over the last season.
