Flyer's defense has looked different the last few seasons, as expected. Players retire and move on (Matt Niskanen) and some join the team and become injured (Ryan Ellis). With that comes new opportunities and that is exactly what this American born defenseman had earned.

Round 1 of the 2019 draft, Philadelphia Flyers overlooked Cole Caufield and selected the left-handed defenseman from Anaheim CA- Cam York.
Per Eliteprospects.com, this is what they had to say about his game
Must read on FlyersInsider
"Cam York is highly skilled defenseman. York has impressive hockey sense, and his overall skill level is high. Furthermore, he is very mobile, has a good passing game and a quick release. Defensively he is solid with an active stick and strong positioning."
Seeing Cam York in action, his best attribute is his hockey sense. He can read the defensive zone incredibly well and anticipate plays well before they happen. An incredible puck moving defenseman.
He not only possesses the skill of a great defenseman but shows high upside as a playmaking-point machine.
Cam York has shown he can not only play in the big club but play at a high level. He is a 2nd life defenseman easy and will only get better.
