For many years the Flyers looked on, happily, with no issues regarding who their captain would be, as Claude Giroux cemented himself as the team's leader, and the C on his sweater confirmed that.
Now, gone are the days of Giroux, and the Flyers are in a transition/rebuild, so that begs to question, who are the top three candidates to become the organization's newest captain?
Let's dive in, to three Flyers, who could earn the honour of wearing the 'C' for the Broadstreet bullies.

Provorov is the Flyers number-one defenceman, and the guy does it all for the team, using his motor, high IQ and excellent skating mechanics to thrive in all assignments, which his coach certainly takes advantage of; giving big minutes to Provy, night in and night out.
The Russian defenceman's beautiful stride and quick feet, lay the foundation for his adept defensive games; his stick skills break up plays in his own zone. He then exhibits a very strong transitional game; either through crafty passes or simply using his skating to transport the puck into the offensive zone. Once in the attacking zone, Provorov makes deceptive passes, look easy and he also has a sneaky snapshot.
Ivan Provorov, 25, played 79 games in 2021-22, the Flyers defenseman scored nine goals and 22 assists for 31 points.
While Farabee is still quite young, he has proven his dedication to the team and has shown just how important a player he is for the Flyers future. He has excellent shots, makes very smart plays, and is poised in all situations, he isn't a Patrice Bergeron, but he plays a responsible all-around game.
Some may question the decision, should the Flyers choose Farabee, but the option isn't so crazy. The Blackhawks, Penguins, Oilers, Canadiens, and Senators have named young captains, and while the jury is still out for some, it has seemingly gone quite well.
Farabee, 22, played 63 games in 2021-22, the forward scored 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points, on a rebuilding team, in the tough Metropolitan division.
When healthy, Couturier provides everything you could ask for in a captain - he is a responsible two-way forward, whose offensive stems from his brilliant defensive work. Both of which, are big parts of Couturier's game.
With Giroux gone, Couturier seems to have taken on the role of Flyers number one center, which all signs point to as being the best option. He has struggled through injury recently, but when/if healthy, the Canadian-born Couturier offers a tantalizing toolkit to be a captain.
Couturier, 29, played 29 games, he scored six goals and 11 assists in 2021-22, a statline, which Couturier will surely shatter, if healthy.
What say you fans, whose the heir-apparent for the captaincy in the city of brotherly love?
