The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that the interim head coach will be behind the team's bench for at least the remainder of the season. Yeo replaced then head coach Alain Vigneault on Dec. 6 2021. Since taking over, Yeo has led the team to a 7-13-4 record still near the bottom of the Metropolitan division.

In an article by Emily Kaplan of ESPN, she answers 20 of the league's biggest questions heading into the second half of the 2021-2022 season. One thing she points out is that this year, 7 out of the 32 NHL franchises have had coaching changes this year.
However due to the complete dumpster fire in Philly this season, a rebuild is on the horizon. Insinuation hiring somebody else. Rick Tocchet and John Tortorella are the names currently being thrown around. Tocchet is a three times Stanley Cup champion, he most recently coached the Arizona Coyotes. Since leaving Columbus, Torts has been a pundit on ESPN.
Speaking of coaching changes, «Five coaches were fired (Jeremy Colliton, Travis Green, Alain Vigneault, Dominique Ducharme and Dave Tippett, in chronological order) while Joel Quenneville resigned because of his role in the Chicago Blackhawks sex abuse case and Paul Maurice stepped away for personal reasons,» she says.
Last year, only three coaches were relieved of their duties in season. Something she attributes to financial awareness. Having multiple coaches on the books is bad and according to her sources, it was the reason many people thought Alain Vigneault was untouchable. He is still being paid 5 million dollars until the 2022-2023 season.
