"Earlier today we heard some good news regarding the Philadelphia Flyers restricted free agent situation. NHL insider Bob McKenzie reported that the Flyers were really close to get a deal done with Ivan Provorov, and Bill Meltzer added he believed it could get done today. However it's not going so well for the Flyers and Travis Konecny. McKenzie also Tweeted out today that the Konency negotiations are going the opposite way. The insider adds that the two sides are not even close on a new deal and that Philly is pointing out how he's only average 15mins of ice time. Jordan Hall of NBC Philly dug up a pretty interesting stat today which has Konecny among the league's elite.""Over the past two seasons, Travis Konecny has the same number of even strength goals (43) as Sidney Crosby and David Pastrnak, and more than Artemi Panarin (42).""
The crux of the problem seems to be PHI is basing its offer on the fact Konecny has averaged just under 15:00 TOI in his first three seasons but the player's counter argument is that he's amongst the better even-strength goal-scorers for his age/experience over last two seasons.
