"A couple of months ago Philadelphia Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher did something we thought we'd never see. Fletcher decided to buy out Andrew MacDonald and send him on his way. MacDonald has been a whipping boy for Flyers' fans ever since he signed his massive six year $30million deal. After the buyout, MacDonald wasn't able to land a new NHL contract but received a PTO from the Calgary Flames. Eventually released from his PTO, MacDonald's chances of landing an NHL job seemed small, and they were. MacDonald is headed overseas as he's signed a one year deal with SC Bern in Switzerland.
