"The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Philadelphia Flyers last night in what was probably the most intense, physical and emotional matchup of the series so far. It was a back and fourth game that saw some pretty big hits and jabs thrown by both sides including the big hit at the end by Sean Couturier on Artturi Lehkonen which saw Jakub Voracek come flying across the ice to tackle Shea Weber. Jesperi Kotkaniemi in particular was all over the highlights as he was ejected for his hit from behind on Travis Sanheim. Many people believed that Kotkaniemi fully knew what he was doing and deserved a suspension however the NHL doesn't feel the same way. Kotkaniemi will not be suspended for his hit and he'll suit up for Game 6 on Friday. Sportsnet's Eric Engels added that Sean Couturier will also not be suspended for his hit on Artturi Lehkonen at the end of the game. There's is some chatter though that Matt Niskanen might face discipline for his cross check on Brendan Gallagher. More to come later this afternoon.
Hearing there's no further discipline expected for Jesperi Kotkaniemi regarding the hit on Travis Sanheim that saw him assessed a major penalty and ejected from Game 5. — Eric Engels (@EricEngels) August 20, 2020
