As we all know by know, new Philadelphia Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher is expected to clean up and solve the team's goalie problems first and foremost. What exactly that solution is? We'll have to find out. Many believe there's a pretty simple solution and it sits in the Flyers farm system.
Carter Hart. Former general manager Ron Hextall preached patience when it came to his young goalie and wanted to season him up a bit in the AHL first. Fletcher said he'd like to stay cautious when it comes to the youngster, but after the best preseason of any Flyers goalie, Hart still wants a shot at the big leagues. "I'm not keeping that out of the realms," Hart said "but it's been my goal to be there as soon as I can and that's gonna always be my goal. I want to be there whether that's next week, whether that's a month from now, two months. I want to be there and I want to be there this year."
While Hart's AHL numbers might not be as sexy as his NHL preseason numbers, the youngster says he's starting to feel better and get adjusted to pro hockey life. "I can't control what they're thinking and how they view me and what their thoughts might be on me, but what I can control is my play and how I approach my game and how I approach practice and all the things that I do to get better," Hart said.
"It was a little bit different just with all the different scenarios on and off the ice. I'm a lot more comfortable with the guys now. I'm in a routine off the ice. I've got things figured out at home. I got things figured out here (at the rink). I think that's been the biggest adjustments. I feel comfortable now and I feel good."
What do you think of Hart's comments?
