The Philadelphia Flyers goalie situation has been a huge headache over the last couple years. However the saviour has finally arrived and his name is Carter Hart. The young Flyers goalie is getting to know his new head coach Alain Vigneault as he holds down the backup goalie role for Team Canada at the IIHF World Championships. While Hart struggled a bit in the AHL this past year, he was nothing short of great during his 31 games in the NHL with a 16-13-1 record, 2.83 goals against average and .917 save percentage at the ripe age of 20. The big decision this summer for general manager Chuck Fletcher will be figuring out who the Flyers second goalie will be. Brian Elliott, Michal Neuvirth, Cam Talbot and Mike McKenna are all free agents this summer and it's pretty much a lock that Neuvirth and McKenna won't be back in a Flyers uniform. While Talbot has been reported to be a mentor to Hart, Talbot showed his clear displeasure regarding his playing time during his short stint in Philly and is likely on his way to a new team as well. Where does this leave the often injured Elliott? Right back in a Flyers uniform according to BroadStreetHockey. The site labels Elliott a great solution for the vacant backup goalie spot next year.Would you like to see Elliott back in a Flyers' uniform next year as Hart's backup?
