The past few weeks have found Sean Couturier's name at the top of the headlines for the Philadelphia Flyers. From being benched by John Tortorella for two games and responding in a big way after his benching, captain Sean Couturier has been at the center of the Flyers playoff push. With the regular season winding down to the final few games, Sean Couturier's status is now up in the air.
According to Josh Erickson, Sean Couturier suffered an undisclosed injury at the end of the Flyers 4-3 overtime loss against the New York Islanders. After the game, John Tortorella said he is unsure when the Flyers captain will be back.
"The 31-year-old sustained an undisclosed injury in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Islanders, and head coach John Tortorella is «not sure when he'll be back,» he told reporters today. He carries a day-to-day designation, though, and hasn't specifically been ruled out of Friday's contest against the Sabres."
Luckily for the Flyers and Couturier, they have had a few days off, which they have desperately needed, and Couturier does have the possibility to play on Friday in Buffalo.
Couturier has had a rough stretch the past month, carrying a -4 rating and not recording a point in his last six games. Could this injury be the reason for his struggles?
