Philadelphia Flyers power forward Wayne Simmonds has been attached to trade rumors going back to last season and they haven't stopped this year. Simmonds is on the final year of his deal and there's been plenty of trade speculation because of it. During the 2018 NHL Draft, Flyers general manager Ron Hextall stated the main priority is to get Simmonds signed to an extension. However the summer has come and gone and the Flyers haven't gotten it done. Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post doesn't believe any extension is coming for the forward. Isaac points out that combining the fact that Simmonds is 30 years old, has health concerns along with young prospects like Isaac Ratcliffe, Wade Allison and Carsen Twarynski in the system, the Flyers likely aren't interested. Simmonds has stated that he doesn't want to talk about the contract talks publicly, which has fuelled the rumors even more. While Simmonds has had some lingering injury concerns, the fact is that he's only missed 21 games in the past 10 seasons and has been one of the Flyers most reliable players during his time in Philly.
