It's not everyday that sports fans get a behind the scenes access into what life is like in a professional league like the NHL. On Friday, one former Flyer gave fans that opportunity as he gave fans a behind-the-scenes perspective into what free agency is like in the NHL. His revelation shocked many fans, as he faulted a Flyers bitter rival for his decision, giving Flyers fans plenty to talk about on twitter.
In 2011, hockey legend Jaromir Jagr signed a one year contract with the Flyers, which turned out to be one of the most exciting years as a Flyers fan as the Flyers dominated the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
On Friday, Jaromir Jagr revealed that bitter rival
Sidney Crosby went into his decision in choosing Philadelphia over Pittsburgh.
«If I would go to Pittsburgh and I understand that Sid would have his own line, Malkin would have his own line. So, the best I would play would be maybe third or fourth line, and I don't think I would get the chance to show I can play. That was the only worry I had."
Jagr's career originally began in Pittsburgh, where he made his NHL debut in 1991 before recording 11 succesful seasons in Pittsburgh that featured back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1991 and 1992. This weekend, Jagr is set to get his number 68 retired by the Penguins after an iconic career that spanned over 25 seasons.
