"The Philadelphia Flyers are likely to make some changes some point this season. Whether it's selling off roster players because the team is out of the playoffs, or adding some pieces because they're in the middle of a playoff race, it's clear upper management wants new general manager Chuck Fletcher to be active. Fletcher learned some great news that will help him either this season or next summer. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said he expects the league's salary cap to jump to $83million next season from the $78million it's at this season.
That means if Fletcher wants to go out and get a player with term at the deadline he'll feel a bit more comfortable, it also means the team shouldn't have any problems re-signing Wayne Simmonds, Travis Konecny, Michael Raffl, Ivan Provorov and Travis Sanheim if they want to. Whatever Fletcher wants to do this season, the extra $5million will definitely help him out.
The NHL is projecting a salary cap of roughly $83-million for next season, per Gary Bettman.
