The Philadelphia Flyers were looking for a spark before their west coast road trip.
Whether it was the firing of Dave Hakstoll or a major trade, many believed something was needed to give the team a breath of fresh air. Flyers general manager Ron Hextall stayed patient and it paid off as the Flyers came back from a successful west coast road trip and it looks like they might get a boost from within the organization. Injured forward James van Riemsdyk was out skating early Wednesday morning and Sam Carchidi of the Philly Inquirer states he could return in a week at the earliest. JVR was hit by a shot during the second game of the season after signing his big contract in the offseason with the Flyers. van Riemsdyk had registered one assist in the season opener before being injured the first period of the second game.
