"The Philadelphia Flyers and general manager Ron Hextall made a decision this summer to let a couple of free agents walk. Among them was 32 year old forward Matt Read who has only played for the Flyers since breaking into the NHL seven seasons ago. After scoring 24 and 22 goals in his two full seasons in the NHL, Read's production started to decline and was only able to score one goal in 19 games last season. The forward has found a new home as he signed a one year, two way contract with the Minnesota Wild this week. The contract will see him make $650k in the NHL and $200k in the AHL after making $3.625 with the Flyers last season, the final year of his four year deal worth $14.5million he signed back in 2013. Read will head back to Minnesota where he played college hockey with Bemidji State University. We wish him the best of luck with his new team!
