Philadelphia Flyers' general manager Chuck Fletcher has been making some big moves over the last two seasons looking to make his team a serious Stanley Cup contender. Unfortunately most of these moves have failed. That includes Fletcher's big offseason trade to land Rasmus Ristolainen. Fletcher gave up Robert Hagg, the team's 2021 1st round pick which was 14th overall along with the team's 2023 2nd round pick for Ristolainen who happens to be UFA after this season. Seems pretty pricey for a player that there's no guarantee he'll be around for longer than one season. Ristolainen has done his usual sitting near the top of the league for hits but hasn't done much else as he sits with 8 points in 35 games and a -11 +/- rating. The tough thing about this is that it's very unlikely that Fletcher is able to get something close to what he gave up for Ristolainen. Stranger things have happened of course but it doesn't seem likely he can get first round pick back again. Was the Ristolainen move one of Fletcher's worse?
