Simmonds Gives Update Regarding Contract Situation.

It was a long summer for Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds. The power forward had to deal with healing up multiple injuries and see his name mentioned in multiple trade rumors. Simmonds has a year left on his deal and has yet to get an extension done with the Flyers.There's still plenty of speculation that Simmonds could be flipped at the deadline, however that's unlikely if the Flyers are in a playoff push and both general manager Ron Hextall and Simmonds have publicly stated their preference to get a deal done. Simmonds was asked about it again after practice. "That's what the agent and the GM are for, and they'll figure something out, hopefully," Simmonds said. "I'm not going to let this be a distraction, that's for sure."
We've seen lots of players put up career numbers in a contract year and with Simmonds being 30 years old, he'll need one to land the long term security he's looking for.
